Controller Button Binding and Troubleshooting

OVR Overlay Translator's control buttons support independent left/right hand mapping. Most common SteamVR devices (such as Valve Index, HTC Vive, Meta Quest Touch, etc.) already include complete preset action bindings.

If you are using a special type of controller, or encounter operation failures (such as the grip button not triggering wrist adjustment, the joystick not clearing translations), you can reconfigure the binding through the following steps.

Re-binding Buttons Through SteamVR

Opening the Binding Interface

There are two ways to open the controller binding interface:

  • Method 1: In the software desktop UI, switch to the "Advanced Settings" page and click the "Open SteamVR Binding UI" button.
  • Method 2: In the Dashboard panel's software UI, switch to the "Advanced Settings" page and click the "Open SteamVR Binding UI" button.

SteamVR will open the controller binding settings page, where you can configure the mapping of each button for this software.

Configurable Action Items

The SteamVR binding interface will list all mappable actions registered by this software with the system:

  • Translation Trigger Action (Trigger): Triggers screenshot frame display and activates translation
  • Screenshot Frame Grab and Scale Action (Grip): Hold to adjust screenshot frame size
  • Clear Translation and Joystick Direction Actions (Joystick): Joystick direction clears translation results

You can map the above functions to suitable physical buttons on your controller device.

Resolving Configuration Conflicts or Binding Failure Issues

If the problem persists after re-binding, or if previous modifications have broken basic operations, you can try the following recovery methods:

Re-bind or directly activate the official binding.
